Tanker business orders 30 new trucks after clinching transport contract

Suttons Tankers has won a significant five-year contract with BOC, providing inter-branch trunking services for the movements of full and empty gas cylinders across the UK.

The firm is investing in the procurement of 30 new trucks as part of its commitment to provide BOC with the best possible equipment for the contract.

The contract is due to go live in April 2021, where Suttons will operate on an 80% dedicated fleet model with 20% flex support provided by Suttons’ wider network, which allows BOC to utilise additional trained drivers without over-committing on core fleet.

Suttons’ considerable operational scale and nationwide geographical presence has allowed it to support BOC at a local level by having each BOC site assigned to a Suttons parent site.

The Widnes-based business has been working with BOC for more than 10 years on the propellant gas and pentanes contracts, building up excellent customer relations and demonstrating consistent high levels of service.

Michael Cundy, Suttons Tankers managing director, said: “We are delighted to announce this major contract win with BOC which is directly aligned to our growth strategy in the gas sector.

“We were able to be commercially competitive, while providing BOC with a compelling solution that met their requirements and was completely bespoke to their operation.

“This new business win also secures an extension on our other contracts with BOC, which is a credit to the Suttons employees who have been working on the propellant gas and pentanes contracts.”
