Eight-figure funding package will drive growth for computer business

Jatti Sahni

Warrington-based VIP Computer Centre has secured an eight-figure funding package from NatWest and RBS Invoice Finance – part of NatWest Group – to meet significant product demand and drive forward its ambitious growth plans.

Independent technology distributor, VIP Computer Centre, will use the finance to fulfil customer and partner demand after experiencing 30% turnover growth in its financial year that ended in June.

The funding will also support investment into the firm’s infrastructure, as well as the expansion of its product range to offer customers more variety and continue year-on-year growth.

Founded by Jatti Sahni in 1990, VIP Computer Centre serves a channel of global retailers, independents and SMEs, by focusing on the distribution of computing components, peripherals and IT products.

It is now a £140m-turnover company.

The family-run firm currently employs 130 staff in Warrington and has recently hired eight new employees, including five graduates.

Plans are under way for a further recruitment drive in 2021.

The company has continued to operate throughout the pandemic and introduced strict COVID guidelines early on to ensure the health and safety of employees, particularly in the logistics team actively working to support deliveries to customers.

Jatti Sahni said: “During lockdown, NatWest supported us with a transition of banking facilities that has enabled us to meet increased demand and continue realising our ambitious long-term growth plans.

“The transition happened at a critical time, just as lockdown was implemented and, despite this, the facility was launched successfully with no disruption to business operations.”

He added: “NatWest has been a true partner during the last few months, enabling us to continue to achieve growth despite such a challenging climate.”

Ian McGee, NatWest relationship director, Steve Phillips, business development manager and Martin Firkins, senior relationship manager at RBS Invoice Finance have supported VIP Computer Centre since April.

Steve said: “In April we helped VIP Computer Centre move its banking and funding facilities to NatWest and RBS Invoice Finance to ensure the firm was perfectly positioned to capitalise on increased demand.

“The business was already seeing year-on-year growth and this trajectory has continued over the last six months. We will continue to support Jatti and the team as they expand the business going forward.”
