Renewable bioenergy and carbon reduction specialists, Fleetsolve is looking to triple its workforce with the creation of an additional 70 jobs over the next six months.

Fleetsolve, part of the SIMEC Group, announced its new recruitment drive as part of its £150m growth plan over the next three years.

As well as creating jobs, Fleetsolve is moving from Cheshire and expanding its operations into its new headquarters at a 24,500 sq ft site at the Riverview Business Park in Bromborough, Wirral.

This is in addition to its five UK-wide operational centres in Scotland, the North East, South Wales, Midlands, and London.

This significant growth is as a direct result of the upturn in demand for zero-carbon power generation technology.

Fleetsolve is rapidly expanding to meet this demand.

The business specialises in the design, manufacture and operation of liquid biofuel combined heat and power (CHP) units. These are fuelled using a range of biofuels produced from end of waste liquids – such as oils, fats and greases – to create a renewable fuel, to power a zero-carbon on-site power solution that can exceed the client’s carbon reduction targets.

The units generate renewable electricity, heat and, when required, cooling, simultaneously to all energy needs of a modern building or industrial process providing the user with Ofgem-compliant renewable energy at a competitive pence per kilowatt rate.

It works across all major industry sectors, in multiple power critical environments, including, among others, Tesco stores, multiple NHS hospitals, chemical manufacturing plants, hotels, conferencing centres, prisons, schools and universities, including The London School of Economics and The University of Nottingham, providing audited carbon-neutral renewable energy solutions 24/7.

In keeping with the company’s ethos, the new Wirral HQ is being transformed into a carbon-zero site using a combination of energy reduction and low carbon generation ready for the move in January.

The UK was the first major economy to embrace a legally-binding obligation to achieve net zero carbon emissions by 2050.

In November, Prime Minister Boris Johnson committed £12bn for his Ten Point Plan for a “green industrial revolution” and said: “Now is the time to plan for a green recovery – with high-skilled high-paid jobs that offer the extra satisfaction of helping to make our nation cleaner, greener and more beautiful.”

Keith O’Connor, chief executive of Fleetsolve, said: “Our expansion announcement today is only the beginning as we’re looking to grow significantly over the next three years as part of our £150m growth plan.

“Even amid the pandemic, time is of the essence in tackling carbon reduction and global warming.

“Our vision for business sustainability is clear. We are driven to help large UK organisations in both the private and public sectors to meet and exceed their targets for a carbon-zero future. This includes creating local, sustainable jobs in the industry for future generations.

“It’s an ambitious vision and our aim is to attract the best talent to help us take it forward. We are recruiting for various roles but it’s important that candidates are eager to be part of a green future which Fleetsolve is spearheading.”

Paula Basnett, chief executive of Wirral Chamber of Commerce, said: “This really is tremendous and exciting news. We’ve known Fleetsolve for many years and we’re delighted that they’ve chosen Bromborough to relocate for the continued expansion of their business.

“With the year we’ve had, the opportunity for large scale job creation and apprenticeships is fantastic news for the area. It sees our region leading the charge in the UK’s green revolution and signals a bright future for our community and the planet.”
