Haulage firm expands footprint with latest acquisition

Lancashire haulage firm EFS Global has expanded its reach with another acquisition.

The Burney company, which specialises in services including air and sea freight, has acquired AFI UK for an undisclosed sum.

Headquartered at the World Freight Terminal in Manchester, AFI UK provides bespoke freight forwarding and logistics services in the UK and internationally.

EFS Global now has 12 depots and offices across the country and operates its own UK and European road freight fleet alongside international freight forwarding services, including customs clearances.

This deal is another major step in the firm’s ongoing growth strategy and follows a number of acquisitions made by EFS in recent years.

These include Euro SDB, CS Brunt Freight Services, Horizon Distribution, Bradtrans International, Euro-Tran Despatch, JRS Traction, PDQ Specialist Courier Services, FWD Freight Services and Caistor Distribution.

EFS Global was advised by a team at Davis Blank Furniss led by partner and head of the corporate department, Sonio Singh, with support from Lauren Sever.
