Hundreds of homes to be built on the former Bombardier Railway Works site

269 new homes to be built in Crewe

Hundreds of new homes are being built on the former site of the Bombardier Railway Works in Crewe, Cheshire.

Sigma Capital Group, in partnership with Countryside, is developing 131 houses and apartments for rent while Countryside is also building 138 units for open market sale.

Simple Life is one of the leading providers in build-to-rent housing having already built over 3000 properties across the UK.

The new site has been named Coppenhall Place and will combine 107 three- and four-bedroom houses with 24 two-bedroom apartments for rent and 138 Countryside homes that will be for open market sale.

Alec Maullin, project manager at Simple Life, said: “We are happy to be in a position to invest in Crewe, which is seeing a great deal of regeneration at the moment.

“We’re thrilled to be able to deliver high quality rental homes for the growing local population, particularly on sites such as this, which have been derelict for a long time.”

He added: “Crewe is famous for its friendly people and is steeped in history, and we will be working initiatives to give back to those people by investing in local schools and the wider community.”

Gordon Innes, managing director, partnerships Manchester and Cheshire East, Countryside said: “We are very proud of our partnerships model at Countryside, which not only facilitates a dynamic way of working but also fuels the long-term sustainability of the areas we’re helping to build.

“Through our close partnerships with housing associations, local authorities and organisations like Simple Life in the private rental sector, we’re able to provide high quality homes across a mix of tenures – which we know will meet the incredibly high standards of Crewe’s residents.”
