Cole Waterhouse re-structures with senior residential hire

Property development company Cole Waterhouse has restructured into two divisions to focus on the residential and commercial property markets following a senior hire.

The restructure sees Simon Gallanders join from Real Estate Investment Partners (REIP) as managing director of Cole Waterhouse Residential.

The commercial side of the business, including the company’s growing portfolio of industrial will be structured in a similar way in the near future and both divisions remain headed up by chief executive Damian Flood, executive director Greg Ritchie and chief operating officer Rod Priestley.

Established in 2015, Cole Waterhouse has offices in Manchester and London and is developing schemes across the UK including industrial warehousing, hotels, large-scale city centre mixed-use regeneration and residential.

The company is currently on-site in Manchester at No.1 Old Trafford, a 214,000 sq ft 354-unit residential scheme which is due for practical completion this month.

Its 290-unit residential development at Anchorage in Salford, is due to start on site in April.

In London at First Way Campus, Wembley the team has developed the £100m 678-bedroom student accommodation for University Campus of Football Business (UCFB) and UNITE student living which completed in 2020.

Cole Waterhouse has also acquired one of Birmingham’s most significant redevelopment opportunities at Upper Trinity Street in Digbeth, Birmingham, which will see £260m of investment to develop a new cultural, commercial and residential destination across a 5.1-acre site. The scheme is in for planning and a decision is expected this Spring.

Damian Flood said: “The past two years have seen us rapidly expand the business across multiple UK cities but with a very clear focus on residential and industrial development.

“We now have schemes coming forward in London, Manchester, Salford, Leeds and Birmingham and the restructure of the business and Simon’s appointment to lead the residential arm strengthens our management team even further.”

Simon was responsible for delivering REIP’s luxury residential schemes Alderbank and High Bank Altrincham, said: “The mix of the projects which now shape the pipeline are incredibly exciting and we are ready to be getting on with the next phase of delivery through the remainder of this year.”
