Corporate finance community smash £10k fundraise target with music video

Some of Manchester’s leading professionals have broken their initial £10k target for this year’s ‘Not the Y Factor’ fundraise challenge for MancSpirit.

The fundraiser saw 36 professionals from the corporate finance community unite virtually to record a music video for the Greater Manchester-based mental wellbeing charity.

The individuals from banking, law, corporate finance and private equity performed a cover of Elbow’s ‘One Day Like This.’

To release the video on YouTube, the group had to reach £10k which they have now smashed and are just shy of reaching their target of £12k.

The cover was directed by Jeremy Smith, director at ABN AMRO Commercial Finance.

The businesses involved in the fundraiser also included Clearwater International, Addleshaw Goddard, BGF, Clyde &Co, Deloitte, Duff &Phelps, HSBC, KJG, KPMG, LDC, Mayfair Equity Partners, Palatine, Pinsent Masons, PwC, RSM, Santander, Squire Patton Boggs, Tosca Debt Capital, Ward Hadaway and Yorkshire Bank.

MancSpirit is Greater Manchester’s mental wellbeing charity committed to improving the mental wellbeing of people in the region through creativity and arts.

On reaching the target, Steven Lindsay, Corporate Finance Partner at Kay Johnson Gee, took to twitter to ask people to share the video and continue to raise money for the charity.

“We have hit an initial target in donations for @MancSpirit,” he said before posting a link to the video.

Michael Reeves, CEO, Clearwater International said: “Mental health could not be more important right now so supporting MancSpirit was an obvious choice. We have been overwhelmed by the goodwill and generosity of the professional community and it was great to get the Y Factor team back together again for such a great cause.”

Damian Carr, co-founder of MancSpirit with Paul Ludden, said: “Huge thanks to you, everyone involved and especially those who have donated – everyone involved with the #MancSpirit Charity is extremely grateful.

“What you have created totally epitomises the ethos of the Charity – encouraging creativity, putting smiles on faces, improving mental wellbeing and demonstrating that Greater Manchester Community spirit of working together and taking action to improve OUR Greater Manchester 💜 x.”
