Radius Payment Solutions, the Crewe-based fuel card and telematics company, has announced the acquisition of Connect Fleet, a fleet management provider based in Queensland, Australia, for an undisclosed sum.

The acquisition strengthens the current Radius Telematics business in Australia, adding both new customer verticals as well as a new geographical base.

Bill Holmes, Radius chief executive, said: “Australia is a really important long term market for us in the telematics division and this acquisition gives us more scale and capability to add to the organic base we have been building over the last 18 months.

“Connect Fleet has some innovative fleet software that we think can not only help us develop our local business more rapidly, but also provide some wider functionality in other parts of our global business.”

He added: “Thanks to Alan Nicklos, our local managing director, we completed the deal really quickly and we look forward to working over the next few years to build a great business in this exciting market.”

In May this year Radius acquired US insuretech business, Modus, based in Huntington Beach, California, as part of its strategy of building a globally leading range of telematics and connected vehicle products.

Following the latest deal, Radius now tracks more than 425,000 vehicles globally.

Its products monitor vehicles, high value assets and driver performance. Through a dashboard or smartphone app, solutions offer driver performance and vehicle check reporting, messaging and real-time alerts, as well as integration with fuel management and smart speakers.
