Fast expanding logistics company completes relocation

MW Fulfillment

A logistics company has signed a 10-year-lease on a second unit at a Rochdale business park in a move that will see the business completely relocate from its original base in Bolton.

MW Fulfilment (MWF) will move into the 18,500 sq ft unit at Broadfield Business Park, which is next to its current premises, in mid-September following a fit-out.

It will then relocate its remaining Bolton operations to Heywood, just a year after opening its first unit in the borough.

Founder Michael Walls said: “The area is very well connected, it’s close to the motorway, and when it comes to recruitment, the support from the Rochdale Development Agency and Rochdale Borough Council has been simply fantastic.”

MWF is a bespoke third party logistic fulfilment provider, meeting the fulfilment needs of a range of B2C and B2B sellers.

The business has links with eBay, Amazon and Shopify, and customers range in size from those doing 20 orders a day to one major customer who completes 25,000 orders a month.

The company has grown rapidly in the last 12 months, and recently took on two new apprentices.

When MWF moved to Heywood in August 2020, it planned to recruit 20 people over the following two years. It has now doubled that ambition in line with accelerated growth.

“Local recruitment schemes like Employment Links and Kickstarter have filled vacancies and given us excellent, skilled and committed staff,” said Michael.

“We’ve given chances to people who were long-term unemployed and also taken on excellent apprentices from Hopwood Hall College. The support from all these organisations has been second to none.”

Councillor John Blundell, cabinet member for economy and communications at Rochdale Borough Council and RDA board member said: “It is fantastic to see MW Fulfilment thriving in Rochdale. It is testament to the both the connectivity we have here and the incredible teams we have in the borough dedicated to supporting businesses.”
