City centre move for fast-growingLiverpool law firm

In-House Legal Solutions team

In-House Legal Solutions has continued its fast-paced expansion with a move to new city centre offices and a number of key hires.

The firm has taken 1,045 sq ft at Tempest, 12 Tithebarn Street, in the heart of Liverpool’s central business district. The firm was previously based at the Baltic Triangle in Liverpool.

Strengthening its team, In-House Legal Solutions has welcomed senior lawyer, Susanne MacPherson, who brings 20 years’ in-house legal experience.

Susanne is joined by paralegals Laura Keane, Arshi Ratansi and Frederick Timmins while the firm’s latest trainee, Sam Chadwick, also started his training contract this month.

In-House Legal Solutions is headed by husband-and-wife team Brian Noon and Lauren Cannon, each of whom previously worked in London for international and ‘Magic Circle’ law firms, respectively.

Identifying a gap in the market, Brian and Lauren returned to Liverpool and launched In-House Legal Solutions in January 2017, to provide a different model of legal solutions to in-house legal teams and businesses.

The firm provides fixed fee contract negotiation solutions with particular expertise in financial services, along with an outsourced legal team solution staffed by ex-in-house lawyers for medium to large businesses which do not have their own in-house legal department.

It can also provide a solution to existing legal teams who require additional support but would prefer not to incur the costs of a traditional law firm.

Co-founder and director, Brian Noon, said: “Relocating to Liverpool’s central business district is the next stage in the development of the firm.

“Our new offices provide a fantastic working environment for our fast-growing team. To provide our clients with the very highest levels of service, we are continually investing in our people through training and development.

“We believe this is best achieved through an in-person, office-based approach.”

In-House Legal Solutions focuses on growing its team by the recruitment of law graduates as paralegals who are trained in how to approach legal work as an in-house lawyer, and then promoted through the ranks.

Co-founder and director, Lauren Cannon, said: “Unlike other alternative legal service providers, our strategy is based on training lawyers, to be true ‘in-house’ business partners to clients.

“We bring our own experiences to create unique career paths for lawyers wanting to work in commercial, corporate and banking areas, by coaching, mentoring and supervising them first-hand.

“We develop paralegals who, from the outset, are client-facing, undertaking legal drafting, negotiating with global market leaders and engaging with the workings of a business, who can become trainee solicitors with us.

“They are supported by our solicitors who develop as mentors, decision makers and leaders. We also offer a re-train programme for solicitors, passionate about adapting their skills to practice in an in-house commercial environment but with legal backgrounds in other areas.”

Since its launch, In-House Legal Solutions has built an impressive client base which includes a number of large and well renowned pension funds, investment banks, investment funds, and professional advisors based not only in the UK but across the world including in Australia, Canada, and the US.
