Stockport architects BTP is set for substantial growth after being appointed to a series of high profile frameworks and winning new contracts to deliver homes across the North West.

The work will see BTP appointed for a variety of projects including social housing, urban regeneration, refurbishments, heritage building conversions and self-builds.

BTP’s successes include reappointment to:

  • The prestigious £750m Innovation Chain North Housing Framework run by Great Places Housing Group, winning architectural and principal designer lots in the North West and North East regions.
  • The £120m Fusion21 Consultants Framework, where BTP was successful in both the architectural and heritage lots.
  • The architectural panel of the £560m JV North Housebuilding Framework. BTP will contribute to building 4,000 new homes, working with members such as Stockport and Bury local authorities and Weaver Vale Housing Trust.
  • The architectural lot of the prestigious Cutting Edge residential framework, which has an estimated total construction value of £625m. Operating across the North of England, Cutting Edge brings together eight housing associations.

It has also confirmed that it is one of the practices selected in the North of England joining The Guinness Partnership Architects Framework, which is a national framework. The Guinness development programme will see 5,500 homes completed by March 2025, including 5,000 affordable homes under its Strategic Partnerships.

BTP will also form part of the £25m construction consultancy framework launched by Liverpool-based housing association Torus after coming top in the architecture lot.

The architect has also been appointed by Kirklees Council as architectural partner to help deliver a pipeline of new council housing sites. It will also collaborate with Pearl Together, which is a partnership between Pendle Council, Together Housing Trust and Barnfield Construction, with an aim to widen the choice of housing in the borough.

Lastly, BTP will be working with Cobalt Housing to develop a 70+ unit new extra care facility in Liverpool.

Vicky Saunders, managing director of BTP, said: “I am incredibly proud of the whole team for our success.

“Each tender process is highly competitive, so it’s a testament to the hard work and excellent skill sets of our staff to have won so many in such a short period of time. We are looking forward to working with our clients to deliver value for money and design high quality homes that will stand the test of time.”

Kat Hurworth, commercial manager at The Guinness Partnership, said: “We look forward to working with BTP Architects alongside our other framework partners over the coming years, to create well designed homes that people are proud to live in.”

The Stockport-based architects is going from strength to strength – its success this year comes on the back of the appointment of five members of staff at the start of the year.

Established in 1947, BTP boasts expertise in housing design, building reuse and conservation.
