Work underway on new Chester homes

Work has begun to bring 142 high quality new homes to Chester.

Formerly university playing fields, Anwyl Homes is transforming a 13-acre site, off Clifton Drive, Chester, to create new homes and areas of green space.

Bordered by open fields on two sides, the development has been named Deva Green and will feature a collection of two, three and four-bedroom homes for private sale from Anwyl’s popular and traditionally styled housing range, as well as 21 affordable properties.

In addition, the housebuilder will contribute £175,000 towards a local playing field improvement scheme and will relocate the changing rooms on site to a new location.

Contributions towards local education of almost £315,000 and highways of £60,000 will also be made by Anwyl as part of the planning agreement.

Around the new homes, Anwyl will be providing new habitats for wildlife.

Phil Dolan, managing director for Anwyl Homes Cheshire and North Wales, said: “This is a highly sustainable location for new homes and will be a superb place to live for future residents.

“It’s a short walk via a public footpath to the Greyhound Retail Park, which has fantastic amenities including three supermarkets, a gym, restaurants and cafes, and a wide variety of shops.

“It’s also close to Chester’s historic city centre with its enviable retail and dining options, Roman walls, Medieval shopping rows, famous racecourse and the River Dee.

“We’re building a wide range of two, three and four-bedroom family homes at Deva Green suitable for everyone from first time buyers to growing families or those looking to downsize to a low maintenance new home.”

Anwyl will be bringing a large vacant site back into good use, which was home to Sealand Road playing fields but had become neglected and unused in recent years.

A comprehensive earthworks programme has commenced which will include raising levels across the entire site in preparation for development.
