Airport launches recruitment drive to fill more than 200 vacanices

Liverpool John Lennon Airport (LJLA) is launching a recruitment drive for more than 200 roles at the riverside site.

A recruitment day is being held on Tuesday, January 18, to start the onboarding process for a number of companies based at the airport looking to fill vacancies.

Next week’s event is taking place ahead of a planned busier summer season which starts at the end of March.

Companies looking to recruit a number of new employees include handling agent Swissport, aviation security company Wilson James, catering company SSP, passenger assistance company ABM and retailers such as Boots and duty free shop operator Dufry.

The event will be held in the terminal building from 10am to 4pm, and some employers are looking to undertake interviews on the day. Appointments are not required.

LJLA said a wide range of job opportunities are currently available at the airport including aviation security officers, handling agent passenger services roles, baggage handling, passenger assistance for people with disabilities, catering and related front of house roles, bar work and retail work.

Carol Dutton, LJLA’s HR and community director, said: “This event is a great opportunity for anyone considering a career at the airport to find out about a host of positions currently available across a diverse range of employers.

“We look forward to having lots of applicants attend, with many hopefully starting work here in the coming weeks to help welcome passengers flying in and out of the airport as we continue on our road to recovery with a busier summer ahead than in the previous past two years.”

Last month the airport announced a major link-up with German carrier Lufthansa that will connect Liverpool with more than 150 worldwide routes.

Lufthansa will launch a four-times-a-week service from May 4, with direct links to Frankfurt, offering connections for both inbound and outbound travellers in Europe, Asia, the Middle East, Africa and the Americas.
