Property technology and surveying firm BVS has been acquired by specialist professional services and technology business Davies, for an undisclosed sum.

Bolton-based BVS employs more than 70 people and provides property and subsidence claim validation services.

Its online management system, Metrix, is considered an industry-leading asset.

BVS will become part of Davies’s claims solutions arm, with staff joining a 5,500-strong team based in offices across the UK, Ireland, Bermuda, the US, Canada, Spain, Switzerland and India.

Chris Brown, BVS managing director, said: “Our shared vision of disrupting traditional claims models through investment in automation and digital transformation was an important factor for us and enables us to take a compelling combined proposition to our clients.”

The Stockton Heath office of Abacus Solicitors dealt with the sale, and Andrew Page, who advised the shareholders of BVS on the deal, said: “This is a major transaction that will ensure the firm’s proprietary technology can scale up quickly across multiple geographies whilst presenting numerous career opportunities for the firm’s skilled and dedicated team.

“All parties burnt the midnight oil to get this over the line.”

Abacus Solicitors has 26 staff based at offices in King Street, Manchester, and in Stockton Heath Warrington.

IMAS Corporate Finance also advised the shareholders.
