£16m Renault fleet finally available to vehicle hire business

Salford Van Hire has added a range of Renault commercial vehicles, worth more than £16m, to its contract hire and spot hire fleets after delays caused by supply chain issues caused primarily by the covid pandemic.

Raffaello Bacci, Salford Van Hire chairman, said: “We are a customer-led company and our customers tell us they like the Renault offering.

“That factor, combined with our own exhaustive vehicle research and testing, mean we have faith in the Renault range.”

Referring to the delays in delivery, Mr Bacci added: “It has been frustrating for all concerned, but we are confident the worst is behind us and that the future is bright, despite the recent announcement by Ryder of its withdrawal from the rental sector here in the UK.”

The new fleet comprises 165 6×2 tractor units, 20 6×2 26 tonne rigid box vans and curtainsiders built by PPS Commercials in Pilsworth, Bury, and 20 18 tonne rigid tailift dropsides and tailift box vans built by Martin Williams of Hull.

The new vehicles are pictured at Salford Van Hire’s soon to be opened new preparation and maintenance centre in the Crumpsall area of Manchester, close to its main depot on Sherborne Street on the outskirts of the city.
