Transport group expands tank container service with acquisition of 100 units

Widnes-based transport group Suttons International has acquired 100 24,000-litre ISO tank containers, for an undisclosed sum, to boost its international tank container fleet.

The new equipment, provided by NT Tank, should enter service for Suttons’ global customers, by late summer. The company also added that it continues to negotiate for further tank availability as steel prices normalise.

It said the latest investment is aimed at increasing its geographic scale and presence in new markets and builds on the recent acquisition of VTG Tanktainer’s overseas activities, which moved Suttons into the top 10 global tank container operators.

Chief executive, John Sutton, said: “This investment comes hot on the heels of the successful VTG acquisition which completed earlier this year and added 5,000 additional tanks to our fleet.

“Increasing our fleet size once again demonstrates our intention and capacity to grow in the international market to better serve our existing customers, while doubling down on the expansion the business has made following completion of the VTG acquisition.”
