Property developer Legacie Developments has taken control of a stalled Elliot scheme on Liverpool’s Falkner Street.

The developer has acquired the former probation centre with plans to turn the site – sitting on the edge of Liverpool’s Knowledge Quarter – into 105 apartments and 63 student units.

The plot was originally acquired by Elliot Group in 2019 and sits within the Canning Street Conservation Area.

The acquisition comes after campaigners voiced their concerns for the proposals by the Elliot Group when plans went before councillors on April 12, 2022.

Now, a new vision has been brought forward by Legacie Developments, which is responsible for some major developments including the flagship and award-winning Parliament Square in the Baltic Triangle.

It is also responsible for the regeneration of Dale Street shops, which once featured as part of the city’s ‘Stop the Rot’ campaign.

Legacie has recently struck a new deal with Salford Council to build hundreds of new homes.

Gavin Currie, Managing Director of Legacie Developments, said: “We are incredibly hopeful that the planning committee recognise our commitment to regenerating this site and delivering quality accommodation.

“Legacie Developments has a solid track record of working across the city and the wider North West to accomplish such schemes.

“We have agreed a deal to purchase the site, subject to planning permission being received, from the previous owner and have put forward a new vision.

“It is pleasing that planning officials are recommending approval and so we hope it will be passed at the next meeting.”
