Developer delivers new ‘energy positive’ model
Proptech developer Curveblock group has launched the UK’s first range of “energy positive” holiday lodges. These lodges are unique in the UK market as they produce more renewable energy than they use.
Specialising in Zero Carbon development, the Yorkshire-based CurveBlock is committed to reducing the environmental impact of construction to provide a cleaner, more sustainable planet for future generations.
Its innovative new models are being supplied by the company in partnership with Lancaster-based leisure and holiday park consultancy Perfect Parks and the Genesis Leisure Group.

CurveBlock’s lodges will be built to an exceptionally high standard and quality, using advanced manufacturing methods and materials, and achieve energy positive status – meaning they generate more energy than they use – through photovoltaic technology.
The lodges generate energy from solar panels installed on the exterior of the lodges- either on the façade or roof space (or both). This energy can then be used within the lodge or exported back to the grid, with customers will also have the option to have batteries installed to store the energy for later use.
A typical two-bedroom lodge is expected to generate around 15,000 kWh of renewable energy every year with an estimated usage of 3,000-4,000 kWh meaning a potential excess of around 10,000 kWh every year- enough to drive an Electric Vehicle up to 30,000 miles.

Whilst this is the first time this technology has been applied to a holiday lodge, CurveBlock is currently developing a number of new-build residential properties which feature the same technology- from one-bedroom apartments to sprawling country estates.
The new developments all come with the latest smart technology allowing lighting, heating and maintenance to all be controlled via an app and are pre-wired for an electric vehicle charging station .
Deliveries of the first lodges are expected to commence in July, with Curveblock noting it is uniquely still able to supply lodges for a 2022 delivery however it noted that “availability is rapidly reducing”.
