New Northern Quarter HQ for internet provider

Northstar in the Northern Quarter

Internet provider Telcom Group is relocating to larger headoffice space after signed a 15-year lease in Manchester’s Northern Quarter.

The group is taking over Northstar and will occupy the entire 11,514 sq ft self-contained building, which is more than five times the size of its previous premises.

Shaun Gibson, CEO of Telcom Group, said: “This move solidifies our position as a fast-moving business, committed to significant further growth over the next decade.

“Last year, we secured £63.5m in our Series A fund raise , which has enabled us to expand nationwide but with a special emphasis on the North of England where we will be building large scale fibre networks across Manchester, Leeds, Liverpool and Birmingham.”

Shaun continues: “Our new HQ is situated in an area of Manchester that we have already successfully installed our exceptional full fibre infrastructure meaning that we are confident that the digital infrastructure is in place to support our future growth.

“Connectivity and the ability to access it, is at the very core of our business. The Northern Quarter has a special place in hearts as it is not only where our business was originally born but also an area of the city that actively encourages entrepreneurial businesses, which resonates with us.”

Telcom Group is in the process of deploying over 2,000km of new fibre network infrastructure to support fibre rollout to over 250,000 homes and 125,000 businesses over the next two to three years.

Edwards & Co and Sixteen Real Estate were the joint letting agents. Quoting rental levels were £26.50per sq ft.

Acting on behalf of Bywater Properties, Sixteen Real Estate sold Northstar to Open Door Developments, which was represented by Edwards & Co in a deal that completed in February of this year for a price in excess of £3m.

Sheila Bird has been retained to carry out the fit out of the building.
