Joint venture formed to deliver 162 homes for Old Trafford

A new joint venture has been created to build more than 160 homes in Old Trafford.

Trafford Housing Trust and Trafford Council will work together to regenerate land off Bold Street.

The JV – known as Homes for Trafford – is developing plans for 162 energy-efficient contemporary homes and apartments in a range of styles, sizes and tenure, including market sale, shared ownership and social rent.

The development will also include a significant investment towards low carbon measures beyond current planning and building regulation requirements

The scheme will include 49 affordable homes, a café and community space, plus a public space featuring attractive mature landscaping and greenspaces, and is expected to welcome its first homeowners in summer 2024.

The site was previously home to three high-rise tower blocks and the Seahawk Pub.

Ben Townsend, director of developer at Trafford Housing Trust (THT), part of L&Q, said: “We are excited to be working with Trafford Council once again to develop quality, sustainable homes and places where people want to live as part of our commitment to tackling the housing crisis.
