Integrated communications agency SLG has expanded its pool of creative talent with two new team members coming on board.

The Manchester-based agency has been growing throughout 2022 and has now added PR account manager, Hannah Titterington, and copywriter, Faye Graham, to its expanding roster.

Hannah previously worked for a marketing agency with clients from the manufacturing and engineering sector. Faye has worked as a copywriter more moe than seven years – both in-house and freelance.

Faye said: “I’m thrilled to be joining SLG as part of a talented and passionate team renowned for getting results for their clients.”

JMW’s family law and wills, trust and estate planning teams have been joined by two new partners in Manchester.

In a unique move, Nicola Wilburn-Shaw joins both the family law and sports teams, from national firm Shoosmiths where she was based in both London and Manchester. She brings with her significant experience and expertise across both the family and sports disciplines, having acted for high profile individuals operating within the sports, media and entertainment industries.

She also has considerable international experience, having handled numerous cases involving overseas assets and jurisdictional issues such as habitual residency for international sports persons – to date she has been engaged in cases concerning those jurisdictions of Spain, Portugal, Austria, The Netherlands, Israel, Dubai, Singapore, Australia, New York and Los Angeles in the US.

She is also an acknowledged industry expert in legal matters which cover surrogacy and fertility treatments, including IVF, and has been published in a variety of academic journals on this complex subject.

Ruben Sinha recently also joined the family law team in Manchester from Miles Preston, a boutique family law firm in London.

Maria Lonergan joins JMW’s award winning wills, trust and estate planning department from KBL Solicitors in Bolton where she was a partner and head of wills, trusts, tax and probate. Maria specialises in all areas of estate planning including wills, trusts, tax, Powers of Attorney and post-death administration. She acted for the claimant in the case of Lomax v Lomax, an Inheritance Act case, which served to set legal precedent for civil litigation generally.

JMW’s wills, trust and estate planning team recently won Private Client Team of the Year at the Manchester Legal Awards in June and has just been ranked in Chambers and Partners High Net Worth Guide as a leading law firm in the North West for Private Wealth Law.

Louis Hamer has been appointed by Northern Industrial as marketing executive to help enhance its marketing operations in the UK and Germany.

Established more than 40 years with operations in the UK, Germany and Mexico, Northern Industrial exports industrial spare parts and repair services to manufacturing and engineering companies across the world.

The company’s central operation in Blackburn holds more than £10m in stock, covering in excess of 200,000 parts numbers, sourced from around 1,350 manufacturers.

Louis’s role will include managing and developing SEO (search engine optimisation) for the company’s website and also developing email marketing campaigns aimed at UK customers. He will also be managing the same for Germany while also establishing social media campaigns for the newly established territory.

Louis said: “This is a really exciting time to be joining Northern Industrial as it develops new sites in Europe and the Americas to bolster its international export activity established over 40 years.

“Recent years have seen year-on-year growth in demand for the company, which last year celebrated its sixth successive year of growth, with a 20% increase in sales compared to the previous year.”

Mark Riley, former commercial director at Bibendum, part of the C&C Group, has joined Kingsland Drinks Group as commercial director.

The Irlam-based company moved to an employee-owned model in 2021 and has significantly invested in its capabilities and infrastructure to become a full service drinks company.

Riley brings 25 years of drinks industry experience across sales, commercial and supply chain, having held senior seats at Heineken/Waverley TBS and Scottish & Newcastle.

With well-seasoned experience in the marketing of brands – from innovation to launch at a global and UK level – Mark takes on responsibility for the complete commercial operation of Kingsland Drinks Group including sales, marketing, and liquid buying.

Jon Eagle, Kingsland’s existing commercial director, and buying director and shareholder Karen Wilson, will lead thorough transfer of knowledge and responsibilities in the coming months before Eagle retires and Wilson transitions to a board advisory role.

This month Kingsland Drinks Group also welcomed Andy Henderson who has joined the business as operations director, heading up factory operations, technical and supply chain functions.

The pair are also joined by Jason Wallace, head of supply chain, who joined the business in July from John West Foods where he was head of supply chain UK & IE and responsible for leading the end-to-end supply chain for its UK, Ireland and export networks.

Claire Graham, partner at law firm TLT, has been appointed chair of the new North West Fraud Forum board. The forum is a not-for-profit membership organisation bringing together leading counter fraud professionals from across public and private sectors in the North West to fight fraud.

The forum, which has recently re-launched, offers a platform for members to raise awareness of the latest fraud types and trends, as well as share knowledge and best practice to better equip members to fight fraud and cybercrime.

The NWFF will host a range of learning and networking events, including webinars, breakfast seminars and an annual conference. Members will also receive regular updates on key information relating to fraud and cybercrime via a dedicated website.

The NWFF board will include a blend of public and private sector organisations who will come together to develop and implement result-driven strategies with the aim of helping businesses combat the increasing treat of cybercrime and fraud.

Claire, who is a solicitor but also a certified investigator based in TLT’s Manchester office, has a wealth of knowledge and expertise in fraud investigations and dispute resolution. She has more than 20 years’ commercial litigation experience, including insolvency matters, breach of fiduciary duties and civil recovery actions. Claire is also an adviser to the Insolvency Service.

She said: “In our modern age of digitalisation, cybercrime and fraud are more prevalent and costing businesses more than ever before. One way in which businesses can reduce the risks of cybercrime and fraud is by being aware of them and being prepared with the right tools to stop them from occurring in the first place. Prevention is key when it comes to these types of crimes.

“Initiatives like the NWFF are extremely important to combat the sharp rise in these specific types of crimes – we encourage collaboration and learning, which are essential to stopping criminals. I look forward to working with the NWFF in finding solutions to help protect businesses from these awful crimes. Being part of the NWFF means TLT will have its finger on the pulse and will be in a leading position to advise organisations on these matters across all sectors and services.”

Manchester-based recruitment consultant Maxwell Bond has made a string of recent key hires and promotions.

The company has hired three directors, with a combined 40+ years of recruitment experience, to head up new divisions. Gareth Hughes joins as associate director of business change and transformation, responsible for sourcing business change and project management positions for clients. His extensive leadership, sales, and recruitment experience in this area will be a key driver behind this department’s success as the company looks to diversify.

Steph Livingstone brings 15 years’ experience in recruiting across private and public sector clients into the new role of associate director of client services, with additional responsibility for developing Maxwell Bond’s German function. Further expertise comes in the shape of business development manager Andy Holt, who will support the growth of Maxwell Bond’s client services and talent partnership sectors, additionally boasting six years’ experience in IR35, while Lauren Naylor joins as learning and development manager. She will work alongside Mel Venner, the firm’s head of performance, to help train staff at all levels, from graduates to directors, concentrating on wellbeing, interpersonal skills and equipping people with skills to further their career.
