Peel L&P unveils Redbridge Quay following collapse of previous JV partner

Redbridge Quay

Manchester-based Developer, Peel L&P, has revealed the new name for a Wirral waterside housing scheme it took over in May this year.

Redbridge Quay is the new identity for the development, surrounded by pocket parks, trees, dockside walkways and public realm and offering the latest in sustainable housing design and innovation at the Wirral Waters development site.

Previously known as East Float, the scheme will include a range of highly sustainable family homes and has now officially been named as Redbridge Quay, due to its proximity to the landmark red bridge in the north east corner of Wirral docks.

It follows Peel L&P taking over the whole development from House by Urban Splash, Peel L&P’s original joint-venture partner, which collapsed in May.

Redbridge Quay is a key part of the emerging Northbank neighbourhood of Wirral Waters, sitting between the Grade II-listed grain warehouses and the new park ‘Northbank Green’, and is transforming Wirral docks into a place of green and sustainable urban living.

It will include a mix of the award-winning ‘Town House’ and ‘Row House’ modular homes, which have been designed by Liverpool architects Shedkm.

Each individual home is being precision engineered using Modern Methods of Construction (MMC).

Peer reviewed data reveals that the fully electric ‘Town House’ home is more than 50% more energy efficient than the average new-build home, exceeding all carbon reduction targets.

Town House has been shown to emit more than 20% less carbon than the aspirational target for best practice and has been created using sustainable timber, which emits in excess of 70% less carbon in its construction process than the average building, and more than 50% less carbon than the best practice benchmark.

Richard Mawdsley, Peel L&P’s director of development for Wirral Waters, said: “Redbridge Quay will ensure the delivery of new sustainable and contemporary homes for families, individuals and couples in a south-facing waterfront location.

“Redbridge Quay is part of the Northbank neighbourhood area in Wirral Waters where – with the support of Homes England – we are creating homes for all, including 100 new affordable homes at Millers Quay. Northbank will provide a significant contribution to the shortfall in local housing, well away from any green belt land.”
