An American investment group has taken a stake in Vanarama National League side, Altrincham FC.

Valcor Ventures LLC, based in Texas, USA, has purchased a minority interest in The Robins in its first foray into sport for the group.

It will see its managing director, Alberto Valdes, join the club’s board to help drive business strategy alongside its existing directors.

Valdes, who is also president and CEO at Hill Country Foodworks, Texas, said: “It’s not often that an opportunity becomes available to invest in a 131-year-old professional football club and we are excited to join the journey with Altrincham FC’s fan base, players and the wider business.

“Our group brings experience in various industries and we hope to bring this value through to the club over the coming years.”

Bill Waterson, co chairman at Altrincham FC, said: “We have been in discussions with Alberto and Valcor Ventures LLC for many months, and we are extremely pleased that the deal has now been finalised.

“Alberto not only believes in the vision of our club, but he brings with him a wealth of expertise.

“Having someone with his calibre and experience join us is an incredible moment for the club as we enter into the next phase of our journey.”

He added: “At this time, we would also like to thank Chris Hamlett, who has decided to step down from the board. We thank him for his contribution to the club over the last couple of years and wish him well.”

The funding by Valcor Ventures LLC is the latest American investment into the National League, following the backing of League competitor Wrexham AFC by actors Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney in 2022.
