Two North West businesses are recruiting for almost 200 new roles.

Manchester-based disruptive logistics technology firm, DeliveryApp, aims to take on more than 100 new staff over the next couple of years, while Chester-based Sykes Holiday Cottages is recruiting for more than 80 roles.

DeliveryApp sees growth in the multibillion-pound same-day delivery market.

It was created to solve long-standing problems that exist in the logistics industry and connects couriers and customers, providing all the delivery information at their fingertips, but with a focus on ethical driver treatment in the delivery sector.

It has a nationwide network of self-employed drivers with more than 16,000 registered, and growing.

DeliveryApp COO, Gemma Taylor, said: “The size of the opportunity we see is huge. We are now on the hunt for the best digital and tech talent in the UK to add to our already amazing team. The North West is a fantastic hub of talent and creativity, we are looking to tap into this and add to all areas of our business from developers, digital marketing staff, operations and sales.”

She added: “This year’s International Women’s Day theme of #EmbraceEquity has never been more important, as women are under-represented in this sector.

“It has been reported that only 26% of those in the tech industry are women. Similarly, the logistics/delivery space is still predominantly male-dominated, with only 19% of workers in the transport and logistics industry being women.”

Meanwhile, continued expansion at Sykes Holiday Cottages has led to its call for new staff.

After welcoming more than 400 new starters in 2022, the holiday rental agency is now looking for people to fill a selection of further roles, with salaries of up to £100,000 a year.

Positions include property experts, customer and owner specialists, and performance media managers, as well as graduate developers, junior testers, and UX designers.

The latest recruitment announcement follows a swathe of new hires and promotions within the business, including the most recent appointment of Paul Oates, who joins as head of performance media from The Hut Group. Michael Field, formerly SEO manager, has moved into the position of head of owned and earned media, while Simon Taylor has been promoted to group financial reporting director and Catherine Povah to head of commercial finance.

CEO, Graham Donoghue, said: “This year, as we look to continue our rapid expansion, our commitment to providing a creative, safe, and fun work environment for colleagues remains a top priority and we look forward to welcoming even more new team members to take our group number to over 2,000 employees.”
