Restaurant chain creating 45 jobs with first opening in seaside resort

Blackpool is to get a Turtle Bay Caribbean restaurant and bar, when the chain opens its first venue in the town this summer, creating around 45 jobs.

Situated on Blackpool Promenade, the 3,800 sq ft restaurant and bar will be taking over the former Che Bar and Coco site on the ground floor of The Brook Group-owned newly-restored Forshaws Hotel on Talbot Square.

Nick Crossley, CEO at Turtle Bay Blackpool, said: “We’re excited to announce that we’re coming to Blackpool.

“We’ve been working together with the council for some time and are delighted to confirm that we are bringing our Caribbean good times to Blackpool’s iconic promenade. We’re looking forward to sharing more news and updates soon and can’t wait to open our doors.”

Cllr Lynn Williams, leader of Blackpool Council, said: “This represents another top class acquisition for Blackpool’s tourism and hospitality sector.

“It brings a unique offer that will appeal to residents and visitors, and adds another dimension to Blackpool’s ever-improving food and drink offer. We are pleased to have been able to help facilitate this investment in what is a landmark location in the heart of Blackpool. Supporting new and existing businesses is a key element in our resort regeneration plans.”

Darren Oxley, development director of The Brook Group, said: “Turtle Bay are the first tenant in the repurposed lower floors of The Forshaw’s Hotel following significant investment, and continues our relationship with them, being a tenant in one of our Sheffield properties.

“We are now looking to secure other tenants for the remaining units, to re-establish the venue as a leisure destination in the Talbot Square and Promenade area of the town.”
