A great place to start a business – and win an award for it

With a supportive culture and eco-system, it’s not difficult to see why the North West is such an attractive place to start a business.

Even during the pandemic there were 43,255 new businesses launched in the region according to data from the Office for National Statistics (ONS).

With so many exciting start ups in the region, we want to hear from those companies for our annual North West Business of the Year Awards.

This year’s awards are backed by headline sponsors PwC, Robert Walters, CMS, LDC, and RBC Brewin Dolphin. Category sponsors include Gillbanks.

The Start Up award will celebrate a business that has been actively trading for three years or less. The judges will be looking for a business that is making its mark and is creating the right foundations for growth.

Last year’s winner was Manchester-based Hive Projects which pipped Cortus Advisory Group, Fuel Hub, PropCall and Pubity Group.

Hive Projects, a project management consultancy launched during the pandemic, was praised by judges for its rapid growth which saw the company double its turnover, contract wins, grow its team to 20 and expand its leadership team.

It also expanded its regional presence with a second office in Liverpool and has worked with many high profile clients including The Royal College of Physicians North, HOME – First Street Masterplan, Merseyway Redevelopment and NOMA.
