New £25m extra care facility set for Stockport

A new extra care development in Stockport has been confirmed after specialist provider, Anchor, awarded the £25m contract to Countryside Partnerships.
The mixed tenure developer will build the new facility which has been designed by Brewster Bye Architects.
Works include the construction of 87 independent living apartments and 17 two-bedroom extra care bungalows. Communal spaces including a lounge, bistro, health and wellness suites, guest accommodation and landscaped gardens will also be built.
Ian Hilliker, managing director of Countryside Partnerships Merseyside and Cheshire West, said: “As one of the UK’s largest providers of mixed tenure homes, we believe it is vitally important to build quality homes for older people that meet their day-to-day needs.
“We have extensive experience delivering extra care developments around the UK, and we’re very pleased to be working with Anchor, the leader in this sector, to provide this new care centre in Stockport.”
Lisa Walters, head of commissioning at Anchor, said: “We’re excited to bring this new community to the area where every resident will be able to enjoy well-designed, affordable homes as well as a host of onsite communal facilities that will enable residents to live independently, yet have support on hand, should they need it.
“Starting construction at this exciting new development is a key step in achieving Anchor’s goals, to create more homes where people can love living in later life.”
