Appointments: New planning recruits at Knight Frank and Barton Willmore; trio join Uniform; and more

KNIGHT Frank has appointed Andy McMullan as an Associate within its North West planning team.

The firm, which earlier this week confirmed the departure of six staff as part of a reshuffle following the closure of its Liverpool office, has actually increased the number of staff working from Manchester and has begun to look for more space for its commercial team.

McMullan, who had previously worked within the planning and development team at Gerald Eve, has gained much of his experience in the hotel and residential sectors. Clients have included Taylor Wimpey and Barratt Homes.

Richard Walters, national head of planning for the North West, said: “Andy will be a valued addition to the team and his experience in the hotel and residential markets will enhance the team’s wider expertise.”

PLANNING and design consultancy Barton Willmore has appointed Vincent Ryan as an associate planner in its Manchester office.

He joins from Cunnane Town Planning in Manchester, bringing an established track record in a range of fields. His recent successes include securing planning permission for a 9MW wind farm in the East Riding of Yorkshire, and for a European headquarters for UK-based charity UKIM.

Ryan will be working on a range of projects, including helping foodstore retailers and major planners gain permission for new developments across the North West.

Barton Willmore’s Manchester office opened last year in the Spinningfields district of the city last year.

Dan Mitchell, head of the firm’s Manchester office, said: “It’s great to be able to welcome Vincent to our team. He has extensive knowledge over a wide range of fields, both within the North West and the rest of the UK, so I know he’ll be a huge asset as we continue to build our team in the region.”

LIVERPOOL-based design agency Uniform has recruitment three new staff members.

Susannah Howard has been appointed as business development executive, Neil Sheakey has been appointed middleweight creative, while Ali Vermilio joins as a junior creative.

Howard was previously PR account executive at Invoke PR & Events in Dublin after working previously for Foxtons Estate Agents in London  and Artemis Media in Wirral.

Sheakey joins from from Future Design Consultants in Warrington, while Vermilio joins straight from the University of Chester.

PRESTON-based online video ads specialist Localstars has appointed two new members of staff.

Glen Bulmer has been made head of networks and development. He was previously employed by the Criminal Records Bureau as a Senior Software Engineer.

Jason Lane joins the company as Head of User Experience, He previously worked at Thomson Reuters and in digital agencies and will be based at the firm’s London ofice.

Chris Bunyan, MD of Localstars, said: “Having proven our business model in the UK, we also need a bigger team to help us to start working on a number of opportunities we’re already developing in other geographical markets.”
