Aptus secures EV charging contract with forecourt operator

Bolton-based multi-utility connections provider Aptus has secured a series of contracts with the UK’s largest independent forecourt operator Motor Fuel Group (MFG).

Aptus will support MFG as it expands its network of ultra-rapid EV chargers. The first project has seen Aptus install a new substation and EV infrastructure at a Shell forecourt in Rusholme, Manchester allowing for six EV charging points.

Additional projects will be completed at sites across the North West including Oldham, Hyde, Middleton, and Newton Heath while the Bolton headquartered business will also complete a project at a site in Gateshead in the North East.

The contracts form part of MFG’s commitment to invest £400m in ultra-rapid EV chargers by 2030. The chargers can add 100 miles of range to a vehicle in around ten minutes.

Lisa Kerford, managing director at Aptus, said: “As a trusted partner, we look forward to building on our successful relationship with MFG by supporting the delivery of their ambitious dual-fuel strategy. The new charging points will be a valuable resource for the growing numbers of EV drivers.

“We’re continuing to grow our reputation for EV design and installation, and we see this as a huge growth area.”

Kirsten Masha, EV technical manager at Motor Fuel Group, said: “We’re committed to investing in ultra rapid EV chargers and are delivering new charging sites across the UK. We have ambitious plans to continue opening hubs throughout 2023 and beyond.

“It’s essential that we work with partners who have the expertise and experience to complete projects on schedule to enable us to meet rising consumer demand for EV charging points.”
