New northern head for BNY Mellon

BANK of New York Mellon has announced that the head of its Manchester operations for the past six years, Jackie Williams, has retired from the firm.

She has been replaced by a new Regional Head for the firm’s Northern UK operations, Steve Hayes-Allen, who takes charge of a 1,100-strong team operating from two offices in Manchester, an office in Leeds and one in Liverpool.

The firm said that Hayes-Allen, who was previously head of performance operations for its asset servicing business based in Leeds, will also chair the Manchester Executive Committee.

It represents the heads of the 17 international business lines the company runs from its Manchester hub – one of the bank’s three global growth centres alongside Pittsburgh in the US and Pune in India.

The bulk of the bank’s staff in the north of England operate from two offices in Manchester at One Piccadilly Gardens and 3 Hardman St in Spinningfields. It also employs 220 people in Liverpool and 110 in Leeds.

Hayes-Allen said: “BNY Mellon’s Northern English offices continue to play a crucial role in supporting the organisation’s rapid expansion.

“The Manchester site has quickly proven itself as a true global growth centre delivering exceptional performance and the highest standards of client service.

“In a short space of time BNY Mellon has established itself in the fabric of the city and Jackie has helped to establish a strong platform from which I can work with the excellent senior management team to move into the next phase.”
