Warning of city centre road closures as Man City parade treble trophy haul

Motorists in Manchester have been warned of road closures later today as Manchester City take to the street to parade their treble trophy haul.

The Premier League Champions and FA Cup winners triumphed in Istanbul on Saturday, overcoming Inter 1-0 to win their first Champions League title.

The club will stage an open-top bus tour of the city later today for their fans which will result in several road closures and disruption for motorists.

City’s parade route starts at the Hilton along Deansgate to St Mary’s Gate to Cross St.

It continues along Cross St to King St, up to Brown St, then down Brown St to Booth St, from where it heads to Nelson St (Chinatown), then down George St to Princess St and over to Portland St.

Portland St and Oxford St are included in the road closures because that is where the main stage is expected to be.

Road closures will come into force from 12 midday until 10pm tonight.

The parade will begin around 4.30-5pm, and people are expected to line the streets from 1pm.

Watson St and Southmill St – the one-way system – is being reversed and there will be diversions.
