Nippon Gases has awarded a further three-year contract to Widnes-based haulier, Suttons Tankers, beginning this September.

The nationwide logistics provider has held the relationship with Nippon Gases for more than 20 years, transporting bulk carbon dioxide across the UK, serving major blue chip customers.

Suttons says it has a strong focus on delivering excellent levels of service and has demonstrated its ability to flex up in peak periods of demand, due to its strategically located depot network, extensive fleet, and large pool of cross-trained drivers.

The transportation of bulk CO2 requires extensive technical knowledge and training, of which Suttons provides its drivers to ensure the highest levels of safety. Suttons draws on its in-house industry experts in fleet, safety and driver training.

Suttons has agreed a capital investment of £3.5m to bring 23 new units onto the contract.

The new units will aid better fuel efficiency, reduce downtime, and improve driver comfort.

Michael Cundy, managing director at Suttons Tankers, said: “I am delighted that we have been given the opportunity to further strengthen our partnership with Nippon Gases.

“The renewal is very much a reflection of the hard work that goes into the operations from our pool of drivers and contract team.”

Carl Woollins, managing director at Nippon Gases UK & Ireland, said: “Working with Suttons brings stability to our business, with reliable transport, ensuring deliveries are made on time and in full.”

Nippon Gases has depots in Redcar, Immingham, Hounslow and Dublin.
