Holidays giant TUI will offer the UK’s only direct flights to the Egyptian resort of Luxor next winter, from Manchester Airport.

It follows recent capacity increase announcements across Red Sea destinations in Egypt.

Also, a new River Nile cruise will set sail in November 2024, serviced by the exclusive TUI charter flights from Manchester, and London Gatwick Airports, weekly on Thursdays from November 7, 2024, to April 24, 2025.

The itinerary will take in some of Egypt’s most famous ancient sights, sailing between Luxor and Aswan with Egyptologists onboard for expert insights.

For those who wish to remain on dry land, TUI said it is offering a range of iconic hotels, most within walking distance of Luxor city centre – dubbed the greatest open-air museum in the world.

Flights from Manchester will also connect with established resorts, Sharm El Sheik and Hurghada. An extra weekly flight has been added to both destinations, with four now available to Hurghada on Monday, Tuesday, Friday and Saturday and five to Sharm El Sheik on Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday, with more 10 and 11 night durations.

Richard Sofer, commercial director for TUI UK, said: “With exciting new additions in Egypt, a multitude of beach and city hotels available from the Canaries to the Caribbean – whatever kind of getaway Manchester Airport customers are after they’ll find it with TUI.”

Robert Smith, aviation director at Manchester Airport, said: “It is fantastic to see the addition of a Luxor service as part of Tui’s winter 2024 programme. It’s a brand new destination for Manchester Airport and one we are sure will prove extremely popular with passengers.”
