Northstone unveils plans for phase three of former Horwich Golf Club site

Plans for Horwich community

Housebuilder, Northstone, part of Peel L&P, has revealed plans for a third phase of development at its 34-acre site on the former Horwich Golf Club in Bolton.

The company had seen its phase one and two plans unanimously rejected by Bolton Council’s planning committee, but, following a public inquiry in 2021, a government planning inspector allowed the scheme.

Detailed plans for phase one and two, including 208 homes, were green lit last year.

Now, Northstone is consulting on the details for a third phase of the community before submitting a reserved matters planning application to Bolton Council.

Totalling 17 homes, the two- and five-bedroom properties will include a mix of design-led bungalows, semi-detached and detached family homes.

They’ll feature electric vehicle charge points, photovoltaic (PV) panels, and will be surrounded by green spaces with extensive new planting and trees. Six of the properties will be affordable homes.

Consultation on the latest phase of the Horwich plan will run from today, (July 26), until Monday, August 21, with people able to find out more and submit feedback online at www.newhomesforhorwich.co.uk

Charlotte Rosser, senior development manager at Northstone, said: “We’re committed to delivering well designed, considered communities that meet the local need for homes in Bolton. Our latest detailed plans for Horwich demonstrate just that, from our modern take on a two-bedroom bungalow to the spacious, five-bedroom homes for families.

“Our homes are some of the most energy-efficient on the market and we’ve proved locally that we take a proactive approach to place-making – whether working with local groups to leave a positive lasting legacy or ensuring we go above and beyond when it comes to embracing nature.”

She added: “As well as bringing forward details of the planned new homes as part as phase three, we’re also gearing up to start on-site with the first, consented phase later this year.”

The distinctive homes already consented will feature high ceilings, large windows and will be packed with tech to reduce energy consumption.
