A recycling firm has invested £7m and will create 30 jobs in its move to newly refurbished premises at Winsford Industrial Estate.

Failsworth-based, 99p Recycling, has signed a 10-year lease for the 43,000 sq ft unit on four acres of the estate.

The firm has been trading in the UK for the past 10 years, acting as an Ecological Service Platform for plastics recycling and exporting from the UK to the Far East.

Bolton real estate firm Pitalia purchased the three units comprising a total 250,000 sq ft in December 2021, from Henkel UK Operations and has since undertaken a comprehensive refurbishment programme on two of the unoccupied units.

Unit 3, measuring 80,000 sq ft, was leased back to Henkel on a five-year term. This latest deal to 99p Recycling leaves MC2, comprising 60,634 sq ft of high quality industrial and office space available on a leasehold basis.

Paul Nolan, director at Nolan Redshaw, who advised 99P, said: “99P has committed to a new state-of-the-art low density polyethylene film recycling plant in Winsford to enable large quantities to be recycled in the UK and re-used.

“Winsford Industrial Estate is the UK’s first Green Business Park and is, therefore, the perfect home for an environmentally-conscious business, such as 99p.”

Legat Owen and JLL, acting on behalf of Pitalia and Harlex as project manager, signed up 99P Recycling to the site.

Matt Pochin, director at Legat Owen, said: “Winsford Industrial Estate is attracting major manufacturers and distribution businesses that see Winsford as an excellent alternative to more costly locations.

“The low density site and sizeable yard has attracted occupiers, like 99P, who are struggling to find good external areas.

“We have also had a high level of interest in the last remaining unit, which is reflecting the continued pressure on stock levels for quality industrial space.”
