Airbus wins new aircraft order at Dubai Airshow
Aircraft manufacturer, Airbus, has received an order for 10 A350-900s from national carrier, Egyptair, at the Dubai Airshow.
The order signing took place in the presence of Egyptair chairman and CEO engineer, Yehia Zakaria, and Airbus chief commercial officer and head of international, Christian Scherer.
Yehia Zakaria said: “Egyptair is a key partner of Airbus in the Middle East and Africa. We take immense pride in this partnership aimed at furthering the aviation industry. Our focus lies in the enhancement of our fleet to embrace some of the most contemporary aircraft available.”
Christian Scherer said: “Once delivered the A350-900 will be Egyptair’s flagship aircraft. Adding the world’s most modern and efficient widebody aircraft to the airline’s fleet will be instrumental in expanding its offering, opening new opportunities, particularly in Western US and the Far East.”
Wings for the latest order will be made at the Airbus plant in Broughton, near Chester, where around 4,500 staff are employed.
Airbus says the A350 is the world’s most modern and efficient widebody aircraft and the long range leader in the 300-410 seater category, flying efficiently on any sector from short-haul to ultra-long-haul routes up to 9,700 nautical miles.
The A350 has won more than 1,000 orders from leading carriers from around the globe.
