Sam Altman was ousted as CEO of OpenAI on November 17, 2023. The company’s board of directors said they no longer had confidence in his ability to lead the company. Altman was replaced by OpenAI’s chief technology officer, Mira Murati.

Altman had been CEO of OpenAI since 2015. He was a co-founder of the company, along with Elon Musk and others. Under Altman’s leadership, OpenAI developed some of the most advanced artificial intelligence technologies in the world, including ChatGPT, a chatbot that can generate realistic and coherent human-like text.
