Self-storage business grows with new Adlington opening

Adlington opening

Porterstore, the Chorley-based self-storage business, has opened a new site in nearby Adlington.

Situated in Adlington Central Business Park, the new 45,000 sq ft facility marks an expansion for the firm, with parent, Andrew Porter, celebrating its 50 anniversary.

The new facility, on the site of a former steelworks, was opened by professional boxer, and Chorley native, Jack Catterall.

Supermarket, Lidl, is set to move in close to the location, adding to the area’s vibrant commercial landscape.

The centre boasts 344 indoor self-storage units, ranging from a compact 15 sq ft unit to a spacious 200 sq ft space, alongside 60 outdoor containers with convenient drive-up access.

Porterstore managing director, Tim Aspey, said: “The rising demand for quality self-storage solutions over the past five years has been remarkable.

“Adlington, with its dynamic community and excellent transport links, emerged as the perfect location for our new venture. We’re excited to offer top-notch storage options for both personal and business needs.”

Features at the new storage facility include round-the-clock security, eco-friendly solar panels, electric vehicle charging points, and additional amenities like free parking, wifi, a meeting room, toilets, and a self-service kitchen.

There are also large passenger and goods lifts, and the team is on hand to assist with loading and unloading.

The clientele already includes homeowners in the midst of moving or renovating, as well as various local business owners and retailers.
