Almost 200 jobs on offer at airport’s latest recruitment drive

Almost 200 Liverpool John Lennon Airport (LJLA) jobs will be availabe at a recruitment day this Thursday (January 11), ahead of what it believes will be its busiest summer for five years, prior to the disastrous pandemic which all but shut down international travel.

The jobs are being offered by companies based at the airport who will, once again, be looking to fill a host of vacancies including aircraft dispatch, airline sales desk, aviation security officers, passenger assistance for people with disabilities, catering and related front of house roles, bar work and retail work.

The arrival of Jet2.com and Jet2Holidays from late March 2024, with their flights operating to 20 sunshine destinations and bringing an expected additional 500,000 passengers through the airport, means LJLA is planning ahead.

Companies offering career openings include airline Jet2.com, aviation security company Wilson James, catering company SSP, passenger assistance company ABM and retailers such as Boots and duty free shop operator Dufry.

This year’s annual recruitment drive is taking place on Thursday, January 11, from 10am until 4pm in the terminal building, with 192 mainly full time vacancies on offer.

Prospective employees can find out what jobs are currently available and talk to representatives from each of the companies, with no appointments required in advance.

Carol Dutton, LJLA’s HR and community director, said: “With a busy summer season ahead and employers here at the airport wanting to ensure our passengers continue to have the best possible airport experience, it’s important to once again make sure that the many vacancies on offer here at the airport are filled in time for the summer.

“We’ll, therefore, be delighted to welcome along prospective employees who may be considering a career at the airport, where they will be able to find out about a host of positions currently available across a diverse range of employers, with many hopefully going on to start work here in the coming weeks.”

For those wishing to use public transport to travel to the event, a number of bus services call at the airport, while nearby Liverpool South Parkway provides a link to the region’s rail network for anyone travelling from further afield. Complementary parking will also be available for those traveling by car.

LJLA was named the UK’s Best Airport in the 2023, in the Which? Airport Survey.
