Landfill Projects Environmental, the Chorley-based landfill contractor, has acquired Richard Peel Sports Turf, Richard Peel Ground Maintenance and RP Asset Holdings, located in Barnoldswick, Lancashire, for an undisclosed sum.

Established in 1992 as EGM Civil Engineering, changing the business name to PE Pipe Technology in 2011, the company rebranded as Landfill Projects in 2016.

LFP delivers forward thinking sustainable landfill solutions and environmental engineering with a mission to make a positive difference to Earth.

The Richard Peel group is a turf and ground care specialist which has a proven track record working with some of the largest venues, businesses, and public sector entities in the UK and further afield.

Richard Peel Group supplies premium playing and training surfaces to several professional football teams and other sporting venues using innovative technology to lengthen the life of playing areas alongside delivering bespoke ground maintenance solutions to organisations such as parks, schools, and local authorities.

The acquisition will see the merger of complementary skills and expertise from each business to encourage future growth and development. Richard Peel will continue to have a key role in the business as a director and shareholder.

Jenny Burke, of Forbes Solicitors, provided legal advice to Landfill Projects with Nina Barlow from Farnworth Rose Solicitors advising Richard Peel.

The Blackburn-based Pierce Corporate Finance team advised LFP on the acquisition.

Paul Bennett, of Pierce Corporate Finance said: “It has been a pleasure to work with both Jason (LFP) and Richard to bring about the combination of two highly successful businesses and I am excited to see where the future will take them.”

Jason Wyles, finance director of Landfill Projects, said: “We look forward to working with Richard to continue to offer sustainable turf solutions across sports industries and growing the business in the coming years.”
