New 45-home Cheshire development reaches completion

Woodnoth Grange

Completion has been marked at a £7.9m Cheshire development which has created 45 new homes.

Magenta Living celebrated its newest development in Woodnoth Grange, Shavington. Work began on the scheme in December 2021.

As a rural location, Shavington had an acute need for affordable housing and, as Magenta Living had recently expanded into Cheshire East, this project offered an unmissable opportunity to develop much needed affordable housing in a great setting.

Woodnoth Grange offers a range of tenures and property types. There are 22 affordable rent homes – mix of one-bed flats, two-bed bungalows and two-, three- and four-bed houses – and 23 shared ownership homes, a mix of two-, three- and four-bed houses.

All the dwellings have been constructed to deliver a high standard of energy efficiency with each of the units having an Electric Vehicle charging point installed.

Magenta Living’s executive director of assets and development, Ian Thomson, said: “The lack of affordable housing in rural areas of England is a recognised issue in the sector. Woodnoth Grange directly tackles this issue. We are proud to have created an affordable and sustainable community within a rural setting, providing quality housing for those who could otherwise not afford to live in Shavington.

“From initial pre-conception stage, the ambition shared by Magenta Living and all partner organisations we worked with – namely MCI Developments and Wilkinson Cowan Building Consultants – was to create a truly affordable housing development delivering community cohesion.”

The play space area at Woodnoth Grange was designed to stimulate community growth while providing a high quality, yet valued, investment for the wider residential amenity. The focal position of the play area is central to the ‘liveable’ feature of the development, allowing an informal outlook and safeguard for the community.

Magenta Living has ambitious plans to build more than 1,000 homes over the coming years with plans to build high quality, affordable homes across the North West of England including Cheshire, Merseyside and Lancashire.
