Second major health and care acquisition for Citation

Chris Morris

Global compliance specialist Citation has acquired Careskills Academy, a specialist e-learning provider in the health and care sector.

This is Wilmslow-based Citation Group’s second major acquisition in the healthcare industry in the last six months, having completed the acquisition of Quiqsolutions in 2023.

Established in 2014 and based in north London, Careskills Academy has 95 CPD-accredited and mandatory courses tailored to specialist care and over 3,000 clients.

Chris Morris, Group chief executive of Citation said: “The health and care sector is a pivotal and growing industry in the UK, but its unique challenges mean there’s no one-size-fits-all solution for the businesses within it – they need a range of specialist software products and services to achieve success. Our mission has always been to meet those challenges and provide easy access to the specialist solutions those businesses need to thrive, and that is a mission we’re continuing to deliver on.”

Matt Stacey

Matt Stacey, Managing Director of the Impact Division for The Citation Group, said: “With the expertise of Careskills’ remarkable team, we’re set to enrich our e-learning solutions, empowering our clients to concentrate on their core mission while we take care of the rest. Together, we are creating a future where quality e-learning is the cornerstone of professional excellence.”

Ari Christou, MD of Careskills Academy, will join Citation to ensure the successful transition of the business and will continue to manage the next phase of Careskills Academy’s growth. Christou commented: “Combining with The Citation Group will allow us to significantly invest in our content and our people and our future looks even brighter today than it was before.”

Acquisitive Citation made five acquisitions in 2023, including further expansion in Australia and Canada. In 2020 private equity heavyweight KKR invested in the business alongside Hg Capital, who had originally bought the business from ECI in 2016.
