Fernley apartment complex reaches new heights with topping out ceremony

A city centre apartment block has reached its topping out milestone.

Liverpool developer, Downing, marked the occasion at The Fernley, at the Square Gardens development in Manchester, which will create 585 apartments.

The Fernley, at 45 storeys, is due complete in early spring 2025, as the second phase of development at Square Gardens, and will join the Acer, set to open in autumn 2024.

The Fernley is the tallest of the three towers being built on site at Square Gardens, as part of the wider regeneration project that will introduce 1,771 new homes to the thriving community on First Street.

Once complete, The Fernley will offer 585 apartments, including 240 studios, 237 one-bedroom apartments, 94 two-bedroom apartments and 14 ultra luxury two-bedroom penthouse apartments. Each apartment comes fully furnished so it is move-in ready.

Residents will benefit from Square Garden’s best-in-class facilities including a glass orangery with seating, state-of-the-art gym and wellbeing suite, private cinema room, co-working zones, lounge areas and meeting spaces.

Surrounded by 2.5-acres of landscaped gardens and terraces, residents of Square Gardens will benefit from one of the largest outdoor spaces in Manchester city centre.

Andy Thomas, Operations Director at Downing, said: “It is great to celebrate this exciting milestone at The Fernley as it joins Acer on Manchester’s iconic skyline. You can now start to see this transformational project taking shape in the overall cityscape.

“The Fernley will provide unrivalled luxury living in the centre of Manchester, which is complemented by its best-in-class amenities and facilities. We are proud of the welcoming, green oasis that we are delivering to Manchester, with health and wellbeing taking centre stage at Square Gardens.”
