Arup in double sponsorship deal for Liverpool
ENGINEERING firm Arup has signed up to a double sponsorship package, supporting the city of Liverpool at both MIPIM and the World Expo 2010.
The firm, which opened its Liverpool office 10years ago, will support the city at the world’s largest property convention in Cannes next month, and at the Expo in Shanghai.
Garry Banks, a director who is based in Arup’s Liverpool office, said: “There’s never been a better time to support Liverpool. This is a very important year for the city as Liverpool showcases itself to the world at two very significant events – first at MIPIM and of course at the World Expo in Shanghai.
“It shows the city’s ambition and is a reflection of just how important Liverpool is to the region and how it will become increasingly so over the next decade. There are a lot of exciting opportunities in the city now, over £700m in healthcare projects, £10bn with Peel on both sides of the River Mersey and continued expansion of the city’s Commercial District around Pall Mall.”
Jim Gill, chief executive of Liverpool Vision, said: “The global economy represents very real opportunities and challenges for Liverpool. Our presence at MIPIM and Shanghai is critical in helping us engage with international partners, attract inward investment and to create the business relationships from which investment and jobs grow.”
