Citation buys Canadian workforce management software company

Citation, the Wilmslow-based compliance software specialist, has acquired Agendrix, a provider of online rota and staff scheduling software. This strategic move marks The Citation Group’s third acquisition this year, significantly strengthening its international operations.
Agendrix, based in Canada, offers a highly sought-after workforce management solution for clients. Established in 2015, Agendrix has rapidly grown its user base to over 200,000 users across 6,500 businesses, delivering intuitive and people-centric scheduling tools.
Headquartered in Sherbrooke, Quebec, Agendrix employs 55 people mainly working on the user-friendly technology and in customer service.
The company boasts over 35,000 five-star reviews on independent review platforms.
The existing leadership at Agendrix will continue in their roles.
This deal further solidifies private equity backed Citation’s international footprint, incorporating a range of different software solutions into its comprehensive product suite for businesses.
According to the most recent set of published accounts the business recorded sales over £200m, and in common with private equity backed businesses recorded a pre-tax loss due to large interest payments. The business has been backed by Hg Capital since 2016, and by KKR since 2020, and both investors own 47.1% each, the balance held by management.
Our lively Rainmakers platform today features an exclusive interview with Chris Morris, the chief executive of Citation, where he shares insights on the group’s active acquisition and integration strategy.
On the current deal, Morris said: “This acquisition aligns perfectly with our growth strategy and to further expand in Canada. Citation is committed to delivering best-in-class solutions to small and medium sized organisations to successfully manage and grow their businesses, and Agendrix is an ideal addition to our HR software solutions. Adding Agendrix’s tech, team and customers is a strategic step forward, making us an even better partner for businesses around the world.”
By integrating Agendrix, The Citation Group aims to offer an expanded range of software support and services, providing current and prospective clients with a seamless, tech-supported compliance management solution.
Mathieu Allaire, CEO of Agendrix, said: “Since our very beginning, we’ve been committed to building a world-class product and company. Joining The Citation Group team marks the beginning of a new phase towards this objective and brings us exceptional opportunities of growth. We are proud to be able to pursue our mission of making management about people first and having an even greater positive impact on more organisations around the world.
