Joëlle Warren to leave Warren Partners for new charity leadership role

Joëlle Warren

High profile business leader Joëlle Warren is to leave Warren Partners, the elite recruitment business she set up 25 years ago to head up an as yet unnamed national charity.

She sold the business to an Employee Owned Trust four years ago, and Kirsty Dougan has been running the company as managing director since last year.

In a specially recorded video message this morning (9 August 2024), the high profile recruiter and business leader described how difficult it was to leave.

“This was a somewhat difficult video for me to film as it’s the one where I talk about leaving a company that has been part of my life for over 25 years. So it’s with a mixture of sadness, huge gratitude and some pride that I share the news that I’m stepping away from Warren Partners at the end of this month…I’m also finalising details of an exciting new appointment as Chair of a national charity… I’ll share news about this role in the coming weeks.”

She set the company up in 1999 but as well as placing senior business people into new jobs she has also been involved in a number of key industry initiatives.

She was part of the group that worked with the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy to develop the Voluntary Code of Practice for executive search firms, addressing gender diversity on boards, as well as contributing to the Hampton Alexander Review and FTSE Women Leaders to put this into practice.

She is a regular speaker on the business benefits of diversity and received an MBE in 2016 for Services to Business.

Joëlle Warren also serves as His Majesty’s Vice-Lord Lieutenant for Cheshire and a non-executive director on the board of Chester Race Company. In 2019 she was appointed by the Prime Minister to chair the Crown Nominations Commission for the appointment of the Archbishop of York.

In addition, she was the Founding Chair of Cheshire Community Foundation and Deputy Chair of the North West Business Leadership Team.
