A Manchester-based proptech company has appointed a new marketing lead to scale up its operations across the UK.
Symple, the free online property compliance platform that streamlines portfolio management for landlords and property agencies has welcomed Katie O’Brien as its marketing manager.
Boasting more than a decade of marketing experience, including nine years in the property industry, O’Brien has a proven track record in scaling B2B SaaS products within proptech and other industries. She has extensive experience in bringing innovative software to the market and supporting companies through the scale-up and exit phases.
Simon Dresdner, founder and CEO of Symple, said: “Welcoming Katie to head up our marketing department was the next natural step for us. We’ve got an exciting 12 months ahead, with several new services and partnerships in the pipeline to broaden our offering.”

Manchester-based Renaissance has appointed a senior engineer to support increased demand for its structural and civil engineering consultancy services, specifically in the heritage sector.
Mark Saville joins the firm following a six-year tenure at another Manchester-based practice.
Having graduated from the University of Salford with a First Class Masters (MEng) in 2015, Mark has consulted on a number of projects and has developed a penchant for heritage assets.
Mark has been recognised for his technical prowess in the past, receiving the IStructE Lancashire & Cheshire Regional Group Student Prize 2014-2015 for the University of Salford from the Institution of Structural Engineers.
He said: “Culturally significant buildings are where my passion lies and therefore Renaissance is the perfect place to develop and build my skillset and stretch my experience.”
Director, Helen Gribbon, said: “Mark’s affinity for heritage assets is refreshing and it’s something we want to work closely with him to develop.

United Molasses Group, the owner of bulk liquid storage specialist UM Terminals, has announced two key appointments.
Current UM Terminals Managing Director Phil McEvoy becomes UM Group Terminals Director, with Commercial Director Vic Brodrick replacing him as MD of GB Terminals.
Vic will be responsible for all aspects of the GB Terminals business, supported from an asset management and Health and Safety perspective by Phil’s team.
Phil said: “I am looking forward to taking on this new role which will allow me to have a broader strategic responsibility regarding capitalising on our global terminal footprint to expand our tank storage offering within the wider UM Group.”
Vic said: “UM Terminals has made significant progress in lots of different areas during the last two years under Phil’s leadership.
“My focus will be on continuing to deliver the returns on the investment that has been made into the business as part of its strategic growth plan, while ensuring our processes for safety and quality assurance continue to be of the highest possible standard.”
UM Terminals operates seven terminals located in Liverpool, Hull and Portbury, all strategically situated to meet the logistical opportunities and challenges facing customers.

DTE Business Advisers has promoted Kate Hughes and Richard Askey to partner.
Kate and Richard both initially joined as trainees and worked their way up to partner.
Kate said: “It is an exciting time in the company as we continue to grow, and following our partnership with DJH, we can offer even more service lines to our clients.”
Richard said: “It has been a long standing ambition of mine to become a partner, and I am extremely pleased to have achieved this goal.”

Legal recruitment consultancy Realm Recruit. has recently hired three new recruitment consultants.
Alex Mason has joined as an Associate Consultant. He will focus on recruiting corporate, commercial, employment, and real estate lawyers, leveraging his extensive five years of recruitment experience across various industries.
Brandon Ghent has also joined as an Associate Consultant, bringing with him four years of legal recruitment experience. He will specialise in recruiting clinical negligence and catastrophic injury lawyers, working with both claimant and defendant firms across the North West.
Kimberley Stark will be working closely alongside Brandon in Realm’s personal injury division, specialising in EL/PL and RTA recruitment. She will also be responsible for recruiting housing disrepair and financial misselling lawyers.
Kimberley has joined the business as an Associate Consultant, having previously recruited for nurse and nurse manager positions within the private sector.

Professional services firm, Deloitte, has invested in a North West team of ECM (equity capital markets) practitioners that will support clients looking to transact in both the UK and US markets with all aspects of their capital markets transactions.
The team’s expertise includes preparing for and delivering IPOs, provision of end-to-end M&A support for acquisitions and disposals, financial carve outs and transaction readiness and execution.
The multi-disciplinary team will be led out of the firm’s Manchester office by Deloitte’s Head of Regional Assurance, Tim Grogan, and Iain White who is a Financial Advisory Partner in the firm’s specialist ECM transactions services team. Tim and Iain will be supported by Katie Harrison, Pete Braddock and Raza Mian who are all Partners specialising in financial controls, historical financial information and complex carve out financials.
The new team comes at a time of significant growth for Deloitte’s North West practice, as the firm sets its sights on continued growth in the region. Having grown its headcount to more than 1,400 people for the first time, in July the firm moved into its new state-of-the-art office at 100 Embankment, representing a bold next step for the regional practice.
