Holiday route to new Amalfi Coast airport set to launch next summer

Amalfi Coast (Amalfi Tourist Board)

A new route to a new airport will connect Manchester Airport with Italian holiday destination, the Amalfi Coast, next summer.

Jet2.com and Jet2holidays will launch their ninth Italian gateway from Manchester Airport, with flights and holidays via Amalfi Coast (Salerno) Airport going on sale for next summer when the route begins in May 2025.

As part of the route launch, a range of hotels are on sale across the Amalfi Coast, as well as introducing the port city of Salerno, which becomes a new resort for Jet2holidays.

The addition of Amalfi Coast (Salerno) Airport, which has recently reopened to commercial flights, means the companies will operate to nine Italian airports from Manchester Airport across all seasons – eight in Summer 25.

Jet2.com and Jet2holidays will operate weekly Monday services to the Amalfi Coast (Salerno) from Manchester Airport from May 26, to September 29, 2025.

The Amalfi Coast, located on Italy’s Sorrentine Peninsula, is an unforgettable holiday destination, offering a combination of Neapolitan Riviera scenery and beautiful beaches.

As one of Italy’s most scenic and glamorous of coastlines, the 50-kilometre-long stretch is carved out of the cliffs and has 500ft vertical drops producing incredible views.

Boasting UNESCO World Heritage site status, today’s launch provides even greater choice and flexibility for holidaymakers looking to reach one of the world’s most iconic destinations.

Steve Heapy, CEO of Jet2.com and Jet2holidays, said: “The launch of Amalfi Coast (Salerno) Airport for Summer 25 gives customers and independent travel agents fantastic access to the beautiful, iconic Amalfi Coast and we are delighted to be adding this brand-new gateway from Manchester Airport.”

He added: “The Amalfi Coast is one of the most iconic destinations across the world, so we are very confident that these new flights and holidays will be a big hit with local holidaymakers wanting to explore the pastel-painted villages and cliffs that the destination is famous for.”

Stephen Turner, Chief Commercial Officer at Manchester Airport, said: “We are proud to connect the North to more destinations that any airport outside London, so it’s fantastic to see Jet2.com adding another destination to its ever growing route network from Manchester.

“Visitors to the Amalfi Coast will be able to enjoy a break in one of Italy’s most evocative landscapes, with spectacular scenery and beautiful beaches, so we’re sure this new service will prove popular with passengers.”

Meanwhile, Jet2.com has welcomed Rob Bishton, Civil Aviation Authority Chief Executive, to its Manchester operation as part of a demonstration of the carrier’s commitment to sustainability.

Rob Bishton meets Jet2.com staff

Bishton met with senior leaders of the carrier, alongside the regulator’s newly appointed Group Director for Consumers and Markets, Selina Chadha.

Jet2.com demonstrated some of its sustainability initiatives, including work to reduce its airside carbon footprint, through the introduction of all-electric crew buses and ground handling equipment, with more than 50% of Jet2.com’s owned ground handling equipment in the UK now converted to an electric fuel supply.

Rob Bishton said: “Our mission is to protect people and enable aerospace so it’s important as the regulator to see first-hand the proactive steps the industry is taking to improve sustainability within the aviation sector.”

Steve Heapy said: “We are proud of the work that we have done, and continue to do, to address our climate impact.

“This includes investing in new and more fuel-efficient aircraft, such as our order of 146 Airbus A321 NEO aircraft, which are over 20% more fuel efficient than older aircraft. We have also invested in a Sustainable Aviation Fuel production plant here in the UK.

“Additionally, we have also replaced millions of single use plastics from on board our aircraft and met our carbon intensity reduction targets to date.”
