Funding for new medical centre aimed at providing care outside NHS schedules
A new registered medical centre health clinic in Bootle, north Liverpool, has secured a £70,000 funding boost from River Capital.
Advanced nurse practitioner, Joanne McIntyre, launched Promed Health & Derma, a private CQC-registered venture earlier this year in newly refurbished premises on Stanley Road.
The clinic will provide a range of healthcare services including minor surgeries, diagnostics, weight management prescriptions, aesthetics and minor ailment treatments such as access to antibiotics for common infections and aims to offer faster, more affordable, private access to healthcare for working professionals and local residents who are unable to get timely GP appointments.
Joanne has more than 15 years’ experience in the NHS and already runs her own nurse practitioner locum business.
This funding will drive her plans to secure further premises across Merseyside.
Funding was also utilised to refresh branding, collateral and a new website.
The clinic is open seven days a week, including the ability to take same day bookings for acute conditions.
Sue Chambers, from River Capital Investment Manager, said: “We are thrilled to support Joanne’s vision for increased healthcare access through Promed Health Centre. She is an incredibly skilled nurse practitioner with the drive and expertise to provide vital services outside NHS schedules.
“This funding has allowed Joanne to transform outdated premises into an innovative clinic where patients can conveniently get the timely treatment they need.”
Joanne McIntyre said: “There is huge demand for accessible private healthcare and our clinic will provide vital services for busy working people unable to get timely NHS treatment.
“We want to make a real difference to the health of people in our community and services such as our routine blood screening for early identification of some common cancers will help us do this”
The £70,000 loan from River Capital has covered start-up costs including building renovations, equipment, and working capital.
The clinic has recruited two full-time and four part-time practitioners.
