City round up: Applied Nutrition confirms float; fourth store for Sosander; JD director joins Hollywood Bowl board

Andy Bell

Applied Nutrition has confirmed this morning (7 October) it will float on the stock market and will make “at least” 25% of its shares available to retail investors and institutions.

No new shares will be issued and any available stock will be released by existing shareholders.

Additional details will be disclosed in the share prospectus.

Numis Securities Limited trading as Deutsche Numis is the Sole Sponsor, Sole Global Co-ordinator and Sole Bookrunner.

The float could also provide a windfall for JD Sports, which in 2021 acquired 32% of the share capital of Applied Nutrition from Thomas Ryder, as a strategic initiative alongside its JD Gyms business.

Peter Cowgill, former CEO of JD, also holds a small personal stake in Applied Nutrition.

Andy Bell, Non-Executive Chair of Applied Nutrition, said: “A float on the London Stock Exchange would mark the next step in Applied Nutrition’s journey to becoming the world’s most trusted and innovative sports nutrition, health & wellness brand. The Company has delivered impressive growth to date, driven by the increasing consumer interest in health and wellness, and the consistent delivery of new products to Applied Nutrition’s global customer base. We are excited at the prospect of widening our shareholder base and we are confident that a London-listing would further enhance our brand awareness and provide a platform for continued growth.”

The founders of Sosandar

AIM listed women’s fashion brand Sosander has signed a lease agreement for its fourth store, in Cardiff’s St David’s centre. This follows the recent store openings in Chelmsford, Marlow and the Metrocentre.

St David’s occupies one third of Cardiff’s city centre. It creates best-in-class guest experiences and is a go-to destination for locals and tourists alike, with an annual footfall of 30 million.

Wilmslow-based Sosander is led by founders Ali Hall and Julie Lavington, who commented: “It’s exciting to announce our fourth store location as we continue our transition to becoming a true multi-channel retailer. Aligned with our strategy and other store locations announced to date, St David’s meets our criteria of opening stores in top tier, thriving locations where Sosandar customers over-index, being the go-to shopping destination in Cardiff.”
